Make Valentine’s Day 2021 Different

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. About this time every year, people everywhere are in anticipation of a day of celebrating loved ones – whether it be a spouse or partner, friends, your kids, or just someone special you’re grateful to have in your life. Some go all out in planning a special night out, some get creative with thoughtful surprises and gestures of love, while others embrace the spirit of giving. With Valentine’s Day 2021 coming within the next few days, we’ve created a gift guide to help you navigate through some of our favorite pairings.

HIS & HERS: Rolex Datejust 41

First launched by Rolex in 1945, the Rolex Datejust became the first self-winding waterproof wristwatch with the date display function on its dial. Displayed in an aperture at the 3 o’clock position and magnified to 2.5x legibility via the Rolex-patented Cyclops lens, the date window is one of the most distinctive and recognizable features by Rolex. Decades later, the Datejust II was released in 2009, carrying on the legacy of the classic Datejust along with both enhanced design and technical improvements. Powered by the brand’s in-house Calibres 3136 or the 3235 depending on the model. The Datejust II has an impressive 70-hour power reserve, extreme precision, and greater resistance to shocks and extreme conditions. The Datejust II is the perfect timepiece for those who wish to floss timeless and majestic features of a modern classic coupled with robust innovation. We selected these luxury watches as the perfect His & Hers watch set within the $10K-12K price bracket.

This modern classic is available brand new, never worn, complete with box and papers for $10,995.

HIS & HERS: Rolex Submariners

Easily a fan favorite, the Rolex Submariner collection has been an enduring classic throughout the years. Aptly nicknamed “the reference among divers’ watches” by Rolex itself, the Submariner has historically linked the watch world and the diving world since it first launched in 1953. The newest generation of both Submariners and Submariner Dates was just released in September 2020 – complete with both aesthetic and functional upgrades. The new versions now feature a redesigned case with an ever-so-slight increase in size to 41mm, which are fitted with a newly remodeled bracelet. The newest models also come equipped with cutting edge advanced technology, powered by new self-winding movements – Calibre 3230 for the no-date version, and Calibre 3235 for the date version – which each give the new Subs an upgraded power reserve of 70 hours, as well as improved precision, reliability, and durability against shocks. What’s more, the newest Submariner and Submariner Date now also have an anti-reflective coating on the back of the crystal, increasing legibility of the dial for divers and watch enthusiasts alike. Ranging between $14K-$18K, the selected His & Hers set of new generation Submariners are iconic modern classics that make the perfect Valentine’s Day gifts.

The watch is designed with a striking royal blue dial and bezel embellished in gold detailed markings on its bold new 41mm case; this watch has a truly regal allure. Its duo tone Yellow Rolesor bracelet – a combination of Oystersteel and 18ct yellow gold – gives it additional glitz and glamour, making it absolutely stunning on any wrist. Like its predecessors, the 126613LB is waterproof for up to 300m in depth and features a luminescent Chromalight display, essential elements for divers in a low light setting. Powered by the new Calibre 3235, its overall performance and durability has seen major upgrades – including an impressive 70-hour power reserve and improved resistance to shocks. At only $16,995 – unworn and complete set with box and papers – the new two-tone Submariner 126613LB is a phenomenal Valentine’s day gift idea for the special person in your life.

HERS: Black Rolex Submariner 126610LN

Coupling perfectly with the Submariner 126613LB is none other than the new and improved black Rolex Submariner 126610LN . Also equipped with the Calibre 3235, the 126610LN comes with all the same functional bells and whistles as the 126113LB including an impressive power reserve just shy of 3 full days, 50% more resistance against shock from impact, and 15% efficiency increase in energy transmission compared to older movements. Staying true to the classic features of a sleek black dial and bezel contrasted nicely with a Oystersteel case and bracelet, the design changes on the 126610LN are extremely subtle and easy to miss for the untrained eye. Its new redesigned 41mm case with more slender lugs and slimmer crown guards transition seamlessly into a slightly wider Oyster bracelet – giving it a more svelte and elegant overall design and making it a lovely watch to adorn the wrist of your wife, girlfriend, mother, or any other lovely lady you adore. HIS & HERS: Tudor Black Bay & Cartier Pasha

Switching up our last suggested pairing, we’ve selected popular models from two other coveted luxury brands we carry that not only couple well together, but also make a much more modest dent on the wallet. For our final His & Hers pairing, we’ve selected the Tudor Black Bay 41 and Cartier’s Pasha de Cartier 2325 – fitting nicely within the $2K-$4K bracket. As the sister company to Rolex and to many people’s surprise, Tudor watches are quite affordable.  Both of these timepieces are desirable choices for reasons of their own. Likewise, both of these brands have their own unique markings in watchmaking history and within the industry currently.

HIS: Tudor Black Bay 79220R

Bringing the same high quality and trusted reputation of its parent company, Rolex, to a more affordable price range, Tudor has been establishing themselves as the embodiment of “accessible luxury” since it was first founded in 1926. And it has been doing so largely via its Black Bay collection. Inspired by the brand’s vintage watch history, the Tudor Black Bay 79220R is among the first original watches of the collection and has a truly timeless design while being a popular modern iteration to other classics from Tudor’s past. Perhaps the biggest new development that came with the Black Bay line was the introduction of Tudor’s first in-house calibre, the MT5602 – a high-performance movement that delivers rugged durability, exceptional precision, and a 70-hour power reserve. This is a particularly big deal, especially for an emerging brand like Tudor, as in-house movements are especially uncommon in watches under $5K. Staying true to the trademark designs of vintage models, the 79220R features the signature angular “snowflake” hands, a prominent winding “big crown”, gilt lettering, a domed sapphire crystal – all nicely framed with a distinct red bezel on a bold-faced 41mm case. Adding even more vintage charm to the Black Bay 79220R is its aged red leather strap – further curating the classic look for the classic man. Add a new Tudor Black bay 79220R with complete set to his luxury watch collection for  Valentine’s Day for $2,750.

HERS: Cartier Pasha 2325

Another timeless timepiece recognizable to watch enthusiasts all over is the Cartier Pasha. Considered to be Cartier’s first waterproof watch, the Cartier Pasha – more formally known as the Pasha de Cartier – is more than meets the eye, as it is an original and uniquely powerful timepiece that brings together elements that go beyond basic watchmaking. The Pasha’s eccentric design sets it apart from other Cartier collections while also making it one of the cornerstones of the brand. First launched in 1985, the Cartier Pasha was intended to fill an anticipated gap in Cartier’s watch lineup which, at the time, lacked a more impactful luxury sports watch in its lineup. Other than its distinctive round 35mm case, perhaps the single most notable feature of the Pasha is its screw-down crown cover – attached to the case by a small chain link. Its pristine white dial is beautifully highlighted by its glistening stainless-steel case and link bracelet and is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal featuring a small date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. Powered by Cartier’s 1847 MC  automatic movement, the Pasha 2325 is water resistant for up to 100 meters and has a power reserve of 40 hours – giving it an edge of grit with grace. The stylish and classic Cartier Pasha watch is available pre-owned in excellent condition, complete with box and papers for $2,975 – making it the ideal Valentine’s Day gift for that special lady in your life.
